Boone’s Trail Renaissance Continues

Boone will soon have another trail underfoot.
Boone has an exciting new recreation opportunity. We are building a community trail, The Boone United Trail. The land is owned by Boone United Methodist church who wants to use the land as a tangible way to be a good neighbor to the community. The terrain is gorgeous, and represents a great opportunity for the High Country to work together for something that celebrates why many of us live in these mountains. When completed, phase 1 of the trail system will include a 2 mile loop up the flanks of Howard’s Knob.

Join us at 9am to dedicate The Boone United Trail and stay for a morning of trail work. We are just getting started so there is plenty of work to do. Kids are welcome and encouraged to come. No previous trail experience necessary.

Details:

  • May 5th, 9am – 12:30pm
  • Meet behind Boone United Methodist Church. Park in the very back lot and look for the small field where wood cutting takes place.
  • Please wear long pants, sturdy shoes (no sandals), and bring gloves. We will provide all tools.

With the recent afternoon rains, the trails are getting a good dose of dust control. Please be a good steward of the park by staying off the trails that are muddy — especially the new trails. They are still in the settling process.

Have fun and look before you leap.
